Windows 7: Using an external hard drive on xbox for videos

Using an external hard drive on xbox for videos

So I am having issues getting my external to work on my xbox. I had a 500gb seagate free agent before but it stopped working. The free agent external was powered by a seperate adapter, not via usb.

It was obviously in the NTFS format but then I formatted to fat32. The old hard drive would work no problem. I could watch anything that was on it, through the xbox.

I got a new one the other day. It is a seagate goflex. It is a 500gb hard drive and powered by usb.
I formatted this hard drive similar to the last one I was using, made it fat 32 and copied some videos over but it does not get detected.

I am wondering if anyone else has had a similar issue. I am wondering if it will not be connected because it is powered via USB so maybe it is trying to act as a charge (similar to ipods etc.)It powers and shows the light but will not show under the video tab.

Is there anything I can do to make it work?
