Thai language displayed icorrectly

About 2 weeks ago my 75 notepad (personally prepared) thai subtitles somehow changed. Now all are displayed incorrectly - gobbledigook.
I have remade one notepad thai subtitle file. This now displays correctly in KM Player, but incorrectly in BS Player.
Also the input section of the Thaisoftware dictionary displays incorrectly.
The thai characters collected in excel and word are unaffected.
I have spent that time trying to find a solution - to no avail.
Please help - and a happy new year to all
