WMP 12 does not recognize ID3 Tags

Hallo,

I installed Windows 7 Professional the other day, and now integrated my music library into windows media player 12. It then displays most music normally. But some albums that I really like are not displayed.

I discovered that WMP does not recognize the ID3 Tags of those files. The files clearly have correct Tags, I tested that with some editing tools.

Is that a known issue or is it just my system trying to mock me.

Thanks for the help!

Ok I found out (in this forum too, sorry for that) that there seems to be a problem with id3 tag version 2.4. Question is now, what to do to make those work in wmp. I really have a lot of music with id3 tags in 2.4 so writing everything new does not seem to be an option.

So now I dont know what to do now.
Please help, I cant even find a descent program to edit the tags.

Jaikoz will change the id4 tags from 2.4 yo whatever you want. It can rewrite your whole directory automatically, and can set it to only change based upon percentage of match that you put in.
ex - only retag if 80% or greater match, etc.
cheers

I swear by it, but not sure what this guy did to fix problem -
guess he forgot or won't tell us

use id3-tagit. it will index your entire media folder if you chose "Scan Subdirectories" (alt+f9) in options. This will take some time. When it is done generating the list of files, just choose them all with ctrl+a and hit F7. Choose the option on the bottom right (convert 2.4 to 2.3) and wait some time.

I use WMP 12 and some albums were labeled as "Others".
I used MP3tag to tag all the tracks and everything is tagged right and i can play them now.
I recommend MP3tag, great application!

Mp3Tag is got to change tags, but it lacks the functions to change tags from 2.4 to 2.3. Only program i found which did the trick was the mentioned id3-tagit.
