    Mp3 files sometimes get replaced

Sometimes I find that some of my mp3 files are corruped in the following way: album and artist info in the ID3 tag is replaced with those values of another (always the same) file, and recently the title info and the whole music track began to get replaced by those of a different file. I really doubt it is a virus... The replacings happen quite rarely and, it seems, randomly. This has been happenning since quite early builds throughout the very RTM...

So what's your question? How to prevent it? How to fix it?

I've found that WMP is poor at managing metadata. After i've ripped a CD and WMP can't find the corresponding matadata i use TagScanner to find/replace the info. (make sure that the ripped/downloaded music folder isn't added straight to WMP library and temporarily stored in desktop for example)
Then once you're satisfied with the metadata add the folder to the WMP library. Everything seems to work fine as long as WMP doesn't have to do to much work LOL!

To be honest I've cut WMP out of the loop altogether - disabled all options in the program settings with regards to metadata.

I have found that although the program itself is a usable player it's metadata functions tend to lack somethig

    Agreed! :)
WMP isn't allowed to connect to the internet on my PC. Period.

Hm... Actually I use WMP quite rarely (mostly another, my own player) so maybe it hasn't even played those files... My question was if anyone has had such problem so if there is a known solution (mostly about preventing it because the files seem to be changed irreversibly) or at least a suggestion about the cause. So I seem to be bound to redownload some songs from time to time.
