wmp won't play music disks

Good Evening Folks:

I have a question regarding Windows Media Player. The app doesn't seem to recognize my music disks. When I put in a disk, the drive does not spin up. It shows the content in my Computer "D" directory but none of them will play. I can play videos, both disks and downloads, and I can play music that I download as well as anything in the "My Music" folder. Obviously, I have something shut off, but for the life of me I can"t find it. Any help will, as usual, be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Powell Lucas

try changing the autoplay settings,

type autoplay in the start search, select autoplay from the results.
make sure that the "use autoplay for media" box is checked and select wmp from the audio cd dropdown.
see if that helps.
