Windows picture viewer will only view alphabetically

I've been having this issue since I installed windows 7. Before on XP, all I had to do was arrange a folder by date, or size or whatever then open up an image in the viewer, and the images could be viewed in the order I set.

However since I got windows 7, I've been able to re-arrange the images in the folder just fine, but after that, no matter what photoviewer I use, they will only open alphabetically..

I have no idea why this is happening.

    thanks

try this see if it makes a difference,
create a system restore point before you do in case you want to revert.

Maybe you could name the files something like *(1) example.jpg *? Not what you're looking for I know, but might take care of the problem. (changing the numeral for each image in the order you want them)

I had considered that, but I don't even remember the order. I'd have to go through thousands of pictures :/
I'm wondering if it's a problem with the structure of folders and going from XP to 7 makes the thing incompatible
