    Windows media player 12

Having somehow lost WMP12 from my PC, running windows home premium, all I want to do is downlaod it again. I am having awful trouble in getting a site where I can simply download it. All seem to link to somewhere else, take an eternity to tell me lies etc etc.
Microsoft only tells me it came with my Windows, well I know that.
Is there anywhere I can just download a copy? I cannot even get to try it by using the original installation disk as it seems to want to install the whole shooting match.

    Thanks

What makes you think you need to download it ?
Windows Media Player - Microsoft Windows

Hold the Windows logo key and press the R key and paste this or type this in the Run box,
    wmplayer.exe
    Click on Okay.

Wifes Creative MP3 player is not recognised in "My Computer" though is recognised in device manager.
Creative website states WMP 12 is required hence my request. Clicking your link obviously takes me to the Microsoft website which states Download the player but clicking that doesn't actually help as all it then leads to is what version of wondows should have what version of WMP. As i mentioned it states windows 7 is on the original windows 7 cds. I am a bit bemused by why the player shows in device manager and not in my computer.

    Thanks

Its not possible to download WMP 12 as it comes as standard with all windows 7 Versions. Could you just have turned it off - Windows Features - Turn On or Off

The only versions of windows 7 that did not come with Media features were N and KN,
Download Media Feature Pack for Windows 7 N with Service Pack 1 and Windows 7 KN with Service Pack 1 (KB968211) from Official Microsoft Download Center
So unless you bought in Europe I would expect the Media feature has been turned off as xxxdannyxxx has pointed out,
Especially if entering wmplayer.exe in the Run box does not do anything.

WMP is turned on . I would have expected to see it listed under programs. What I caoont figure out though is the player is recognised inn the device manager but doesn't show as an external drive which it used to do.
