I am working on enabling the stream function on my server, so far I have got the Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service running and am trying to work out what is preventing the streaming menu from showing in WMP 12, I suspect a registry value somewhere. If anyone wants to help then thanks.

edit: I know I am only a 1 poster so far but I thought this would be the best place to come to asking for aid :)

Are you wanting to stream stuff in media player from other places or stream from your server to clients?

Windows Media Services is specifically used for streaming from the server to other clients. Sorry if i misunderstood your post.

Have you been able to enable Media Player streaming on Server 2008 R2? I'm currently facing the same problem, but haven't even been able to install the Windows Media Network Sharing Service.
Any hints on how to do that and if you solved the issue how to finally enable streaming?

Thanks !

Bad news :-(

Afterall I might give Twonky Media a chance. Couple of friends are using it and highly recommend it.

Hi
I had setup a video streaming server using broadcam video streaming server on windows 2003 setup and it had worked perfectly fine. Now i was trying to setup the same thing on win 2008 r2 setup, Using the same settings but somehow video streaming is not working now. I dunno wat the prob was so i tried disabling the firewell, removing the antivirus etc. But its still nt wrking. pls suggest as to what should i do ? and what can be the possible reason for this not working?
Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

For setting up streaming services, I recommend using Windows Media Services 2008, which is a free add-on for Windows Server 2008 systems. After installing this add-on, you’ll have the ability to set up publishing points and host streams of playlists or single files. What I wanted to point out is one of the common gotchas with Silverlight and streaming in the current versions.
