Win7 video randomly slows to a crawl

Window media player, Slingplayer, Realplayer all randomly have issues where the audio just stops and the video display slows way down to slow motion. So far the only way I can get things back to normal is to reboot the system. This issue just started several weeks ago. The first time this happened was when I was running Slingplayer and started Google Earth (IE10). I noticed that it took forever for IE to display the complete image and at the same time the audio (Slingplayer) stopped. Tonight it happened 3 times in a row. There are no errors reported, nothing in the event logs.

Hi hobie, Welcome to SF.
Scan your PC for viruses, malwares. Use Spybot-search and destroy to complete the scanning.

Is this only happening while watching videos or while any other program? After completing all the scans, download latest video drivers for your graphic card and remove the old drivers.

Use driver sweeper to remove old bits of old driver and then install the latest drivers for the card.

Keep us posted.

I have done all of the above already, that's why I posted here looking for more help/info. I believe the problem has something to do with the latest MS updates as of three weeks ago.

Why would I use Google Chrome? There are no web browsers in play for this issues.

Because you said in your first post that you were using IE10. That's why Chrome was suggested as an alternative.

You're correct (sorry about the reply). However, that's not the only app where I experience the problem. I also have a problem when I launch Windows Media Player while running Sling Player. I also have the same problem when I launch Google Earth while running Sling Player. No IE10 running at the time.

Internet slows to a crawl when XBOX 360 online.
My sons Xbox is connected via ethernet to a router and DSL modem. We have about 10M Down and .8M up speed with our connection. When he's playing online, the internet pretty much stops working on our PC. The funny thing is, we have a Wii connected wirelessly through the modem and you can play a...

PC slows to a crawl until rebooted, seemingly at random.
This has been going on for about a week now and I don't understand what it is. Sometimes when I start the computer, log in, or sometimes just out of nowhere it just becomes unresponsive and I can't really do anything. Task manager, start menu, and anything else take minutes to load up. I've ran all...

W7 slows to unusable crawl when moving/copying files
To start off, I absolutely love Windows 7 and this is the only problem I've had with it yet. Any time I go to move or copy a large enough file, W7 slows down so much that it is unusable. The transfer rate starts off at about 40 MB/s, but eventually slows to about 9 MB/s. If I cancel the...

Am running chkdsk on my C: drive (scheduled on boot) and it runs OK at about 3000 sectors per second then slows to a crawl - I left it running for 8 hours and it got to about 50% of the last step (4 of 5) but by that time was slo slow it would have taken hours more to finish. Any ideas ?
