In Device Manager, see attached pic. A reboot may be necessary. Windows will (should!) try to fetch some adequate default driver, but not knowing the exact condition\settings of laptop\OS, can't say exactly what will happen.default drivers from Microsoft, how do I do this?
nb: there is always a risk of making things worse... :O) am recommending a disk image backup + a new restore point before experiments starts.
Reason I post here is I had some exact same problems\symptoms on an older Compaq, sure looked\sounded like hardware failure, but turned out to be driver related, and got fixed in the end. Good luck.
