    Hi bigseb,

Try DVD Fab's HD Decrypter which is free. Free DVD Decrypter,Blu-ray Decrypter from DVDFab. Get Free DVDFab products, and try out DVDFab for free.

After ripping you may convert it to any format with Freemake's Free Video Converter Free Video Converter | MP3 MP4 AVI 3GP MKV DVD | FREE Download

( During installation be cautious and avoid installing any unwanted load it may try to dump. I have not been using the free video converter for a long time. So I do not know the current list of those unwanted load.:) )

    AnyDvd.
More pricy than most of the other alternatives, but it works very well. Easily the best. If you plan on converting to DVDs to files for your phone/tablet then its worth it.

I know many hate it it, but Nero recode does a good job for this purpose. And pretty simple to set up. Simply tell it its for a Android or iPhone, the resolution you want and set a bit rate. thats it. Although there are a few more options if you dig a little for them. (this of course is a paid solution)

Handbrake is a free solution & works well too, but may require some extra adjustments to get the quality you want.

By far, my favorite is MeGui.
The downside is that it has a pretty steep learning curve if you are not at all familiar with video encoding.
But the upside is that it produces superior results to the others, at least IMHO.

Technically the same as handbrake, but with a lot more options to achieve better quality. Although all this comes at the price of a steeper learning curve, as mentioned since you must do all the steps manually.

I wrote a tutorial on MeGUI if you want to look and see if its worth a try. Theyve changed some things though so that, at least for MP4 files (which is what you want for a phone or tablet) requires no extra software. Its all native.

    Hi there
AnyDVD will remove regional encoding and encryption -- this is a LEGALLY obtainable product (at least where I am) so it's (IMO) not against the Forum rules - Mods please remove post if this does contravene the rules.

Before any DVD Rip you need to remove the CSS garbage which AnyDVD does.

Create an ISO with AnyDVD on to HDD and then you can mount this as a virtual ISO either with a Virtual mounter software or W8.1 has this facility built into windows.

Handbrake should be able to rip the DVD OK if the quality of the DVD is good to start with - but you can choose from this lot

    Five Best DVD Ripping Tools

Incidentally you can WIRELESSLY with an S4 watch movies on your TV from your (REMOTE) computer without copying first to the phone's card. As the S4 phone will output full 1080p HD this is worth doing.
    (As I said - a BRILLIANT phone !!).

    1) install the ES file manager app on your phone (android - google store - free).

    2) on the phone also install VLC and MX player ( I install both as sometimes one doesn't always play but the other will).

    3) start ES-file manager in REMOTE mode (LAN) and find the movie folder and open it (ON THE PHONE) - Ensure the folder on the remote computer is shareable on a LAN of course.

    4) Prompt will ask for application - choose VLC / MX player

Now at this stage you should be able to watch the movie on the phone from the remote computer without having to install any streaming software.

If you want to watch on your TV in full 1080p output you need the little SAMSUNG All Cast SHARE wifi dongle gismo -- plug the HDMI into an HDMI input on your TV and then enable the phone in settings to SHARE the screen (enable screen sharing) and connect - BAM you've got the movie wirelessly now from COMPUTER to TV !!!!

There's also a SAMSUNG==>HDMI adapter if you want - I prefer the Wi-Fi system - no cables etc.

Samsung S4 - Brilliant phone -- loads of possibilities -- who uses a phone for actually MAKING CALLS these days. !!!

    Cheers
