    Can't print photos

    Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit
    DeskJet 1050 J410
    USB connection
    Printer set as default Printer
Software: HP (downloaded from HP website)

Can't print photos from the following apps:
    Windows Photo Gallery
    Windows Photo Viewer
    Paint.net

    Printer will print photos from:
    Windows Paint
    Apple Pictures Viewer

It will print from docs from MS Office Apps

Not sure why it won't print from Windows photo apps or Paint.net
Previous printer HP PSC 1210 would print from all apps

Any ideas are welcome, I'd like to be able to print 4x6, 5x7 etc

    Ran:
    sfc /scannow
    Results:
    Verification 100% complete
Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

    Ran:
Spybot: No major issues other than cookies
    MalwareBytes: No major threat issues
    AdwCleaner: No major threat issues
    CCleaner

    Uninstalled Paint.net: no difference

Windows features: checked LPD Service, checked LPR Port Monitor
    no difference

Photo to print briefly appears in print queue, then disappears

Repaired Windows Live Essentials (Live Photo Gallery)

Again, photo to print briefly appears in print queue, then disappears

    Ran:
Chkdsk on boot: no issues or repairs

tried printing from Live Photo Gallery
no difference, again, photo to print briefly appears in print queue, then disappears

Don't have another printer to try, the HP PSC that I had won't feed paper among other issues

    dre1x,
Welcome to SF. Consider uninstalling HP printer driver completely then re-installing per the manuals directions with the latest drivers?

did that as well, twice, to no avail

It seems that any program that gets me to the print screen "How do you want to print your pictures" with the options to pick 'full page/4x6/5x7/8x10/3.5x5/wallet/contact sheet' fails to print.

This issue is not a particularly big concern, however, I seem to remember this printer did print pics in the past. I switched to the HP PSC 1250 (used) which did print from Windows Photo Gallery and Paint.net, but then it developed problems, so I scrapped it and switched back to the HP DJ 1050.

I really need another printer, so maybe in the near future I can buy another, switch the DJ 1050 to my Mac, and try another printer on my Windows machine.

Have you tried using the pictures on a usb stick directly printed via the printers onboard usb and software?

This particular printer (Deskjet 1050) doesn't have an onboard USB port.

Have you tried it without SpyBot on your computer. SpyBot does many strange things when used with Windows 7.
Just things I have noticed reading many post. Nothing scientific.

tried with Spybot uninstalled, no difference

So far this issue is unresolved, I will post back if I can find another printer to test.

    Hi dre1x
I have a HP Photosmart C5380, 3+ years old but working fine, printing from every other app but Windows Photo Viewer and Photo Gallery.
I have just recovered from the same problem, there are lots of complaints about this from different forums, M$ Support did not even acknowledge mine. In the end I found that HP, own programme, Photosmart Essential 3.5, handled it all. Go to HP and look for programme updates. Or if you have the original CD that came with your printer, it should be on the CD. After unplugging and uninstalling your printer, reinstall from the CD, then go to HP Support, enter your Printer model Number, and look for updates.

EDIT: uninstall Windows Photo Viewer and Gallery.
