Windows Media Player Windows 7

Hi,I have a very annoying thing with my windows media player 12.Been working well but over the last few days there has been one headache with it.
When I select a music file it don't respond and in a few seconds a box comes on screen stating
(Server Exection Failed),Did a lot og googling regarding this followed a lot of tips with no luck tried a system restore a C drive disc check uninstalled the WMP then reinstalled it followed the link from microsoft on how to do it,Rebooted many times but that bl***y box keeps coming up and WMP wont open the WMC opens but very slowww.
I decided this afternoon to install VLC as I was so fed up of looking at google for tips there were a lot that was to deep for me to undestand.
Anyway the VLC is working well I have audio and video.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this problem with WMP12 windows 7 home premium.

Thanks In Advance.
