Windows DVD maker - skewed playback

I have, until yesterday, been using the Windows DVD maker with not a single problem.

I burned a DVD, which showed up as normal on both the menu screen and the preview, but when I came to attempt playback on either my DVD player or computer, this is what I am getting (see attached photo).

This has been tried with three different clips, all with the same outcome. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That is a very interesting problem...

Which type of media file/s was the video in before you made the DVD?

I do have a couple of ideas that might help .

1. Usually I recommend downloading a codec pack, because it solves problems with video and audio file types.
So it could be when you are importing the AVI file, there might be something wrong with the way it encodes.

You can download a free codec pack here:
Windows 7 Codecs Pack for Windows Media Player WMP12 and Media Center

2. You could try a system restore to the date before you started experiencing the weird skewed playback.

3. What type of disc are you burning the video to? Have you switched to a new type of disc?

4. Does the problem still persist when you play the DVD on VLC?
(download VLC here - VideoLAN - VLC: Official site - Free multimedia solutions for all OS!)

Does this skewed playback only happen with AVI files?

Thanks for all your help. I downloaded the new codecs and they worked fine. I also found the problem went after I uninstalled and then reinstalled DivX. The disc is a straight forward DVD and I have always used Verbatim DVD + RW without a problem before. I suspect that the problem may have been the codecs, so once again a very big thank you

Your very welcome!
Glad to hear your problem was resolved .

You can also use your codec pack in such a way that it can import MP4, AVI and almost any type of video/audio files straight into Windows DVD Maker without having to convert the files before hand!

This also goes the same for Windows Movie Maker and Windows Media Player!

Thanks for also clicking the "Marked Solved" button, this helps other people who have the same problem as you .
