    Pictures don't display in order

When I double click a picture folder on my computer, it shows tiles of all the pics in that folder in alphabetical order. Yet when I double click the first picture to open it up, and then click the arrow to advance forward thru all the pictures in that folder, it does not display the pictures in the same order. How can I fix this, to make it advance in alphabetical order?

    TIA,
    Audrey

    Hi,
Which program is the file opening with ?
Windows photo viewer/ Windows photo gallery...
What are the file types of the files ?
If you single click to select the folder and click on Slide show on the top does the same issue occur ?
    Cheers.

    Pictures don't display in order

When I open a picture folder in Windows Explorer, the picture tiles are in alphabetical order. When I double click the first pic, it opens, but when I click the forward arrow, it's not going thru my pictures in alphabetical order. I don't know what opens the pictures when I select one: Photo View or Photo Gallery. The pics are saved as jpgs.

    >>If you single click to select the folder to select it and click on Slide show on the top does the same issue occur ?<< I have to double click to select/open the folder, don't have Slide Show on the top.

    Thanks,
    Audrey

    Pictures don't display in order

Thank you, Thrash Zone, but neither of those links work for me. I don't use Windows Live Photo Gallery and I don't need to restore anything. My pictures just are not advancing (when I click the forward arrow) in the order they are in the picture folders. They are saved alphabetically in the picture folders, i.e., A, B, C, D, but when I open the first picture, A, then click the forward arrow, it might go to D, then I click the forward arrow and it goes to picture C, then I click the forward arrow and it goes to B. I want them to advance in alphabetical order, the same order they are saved as in that album.

    Thank you though.

This is the best picture viewer to use - and you need not click for the next pic, just roll the wheel on the mouse. And the program has a LOT of convenient functions ranging from resizing to watermarks.

whs posted a pretty good one if your interested in trying it out ?

The picture I posted was for the built in windows photo viewer,
Right click the first image in the folder,
Point at Open with and click on Windows photo viewer and see if it works or not,
If you'd like to take and post a screen shot see the link above my signature picture to show you how if you need too,
Because the only other programs would be windows media player or windows media center that come with windows ?
    Cheers.

    Pictures don't display in order

Thank you, both of you, for your suggestions. Before I start using another format, can anyone explain why *suddenly* pictures don't advance in order when I'm looking at them in Windows Explorer? This never happened before, not till I initially posted here asking about it. What changed that made this happen? I would prefer looking at pictures the same way I always have, not adding and learning something new.

    Thanks again,
    Audrey
