WMP Video and music lag on my laptop, how do I fix it?
I need to fix it by tonight, because I will be going on a flight to Oklahoma tomorrow. I posted this also on Yahoo! Answers, so hopefully between these two, I'll be able to fix it.
Whenever I play video and music files (.mp4, .mp3, movieclip, etc.) it lags and freezes, then has to catch up. The audio still plays though. I've tried using both WMP and VLC, but both have the same problem.
It lags, the picture gets distorted, and covered in blue pixels around the edges of objects, and then starts to loop a 5 second segment over and over, then after about 20 seconds, it gets better. But after a few more minutes, it begins all over again.
I set the priority of VLC to High, it still doesn't help much. I can't set it to RealTime, though for some reason.
-My laptop's memory stays at about 50% without video playing, and then 60% with VLC Media Player playing video.
-CPU stays at about 7-10% without media player running, and goes up to about 17% with it running.
-GPU is at about 8.4%
This is what it looks like with a video playing. I noticed nothing weird in the charts when it started lagging, though.

I am using Process Hacker, to see what my CPU is being used in.
-System Idle Process is 80.7 of the CPU (I'm guessing it is referring to percentage?)
-VLC is at about 8 to 12 of the CPU. (I'm guessing it is referring to percentage?)
Then funny thing is, I can play video easily on Youtube or Dailymotion on the internet, but I can't play files on my computer. But I can play DVDs just fine.
And its not just that that is slow on my computer. MS Word lags when I first open it up. For the first 15 minutes or so, it lags and freezes up even while typing a single letter! But it gets faster after I use it and have it open for a long enough time, and works fine after that. My entire laptop is slow, and freezes up, or says "(Not Responding)" once in a while, but not to the same extent that video files do. Its impossible to watch videos, it starts lagging every minute, and I have to close the program off and restart it again.
