OCM770 jus showd us the way of doing it. It's up to everyone themselves if they wish to use this tutorial or not, it is a possibility to choose given to us.
Any way it shouldn't annoy others, if some people use this on their PC-s or not. They might not understand it, but this shouldn't be the reason to criticize what others are doing :)
does anoybody know if doing this makes channel 4 on demand work? I have managed to download and install it but when i try to log in it says i need WMP 10 or higher. (I am using win 7RC)
I went back to wmp 12 because was impossible to open music files from folders with double click after following this guide. After a while this started to annoy me :-P
For fixing the double-click issue, do the following.
Open regedit and navigate to:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\WMP11.AssocFile.xxx\shell\Play\command (xxx being any of the multiple file associations in this area)
There will be 2 entries. "Default" & "DelegateExecute". Delete the DelegateExecute entry (after creating a backup of the registry before you do). You might have problems with deleting it due to permissions, if so, then right-click the registry folder, go to permissions and take ownership.
I had to do both of the following steps to finally get the permissions to be able to delete anything in the registry: checking the "replace all child object permissions....." under permissions tab & the "replace owner on subcontainers & objects" under owner tab.
This was of course on my Win7 Ultimate x86 laptop, and so far, everything I do with WMP11 works great. It even opens WMP on top instead of behind other open windows when I double-click on a music or video file, which is maybe the only other thing I don't like in Win7 (aside from WMP12). With my x64 desktop I have gotten absolutely nowhere, except having to do a repair installation to get WMP12 back.
Also, the one complaint about WMP12 I haven't seen, which is my main beef, is how crappy a video looks in fullscreen mode compared to WMP11. If it looked the same, I wouldn't have any issue with WMP12 at all.
Some people just aren't intelligent enough to know what they want and therefore can't be satisfied no matter what you give them.
I know exactly what I want, and that's something that doesn't suck. And the newer version of an app shouldn't be worse than the last one.
Sure it might have new options that don't work the way they expected, but at least don't screw up the things it did well in the previous version.
I cant see any reason to downgrade.
WMP 12 looks better, and is better. WMP 11 was alright, but 12 is way better
