Photos from Camera to folder in Windows 7

I'm new to this--not even sure how to get my answer. My question: I had windows XP and now have 7. In XP when I down loaded photos from camera to computer it put my images in folders by date, I would like 7 to do this but now it puts all of photos in one folder. Is it possible to get 7 to do what XP did put them in folders by date? pghmiller

    Welcome to the Seven Forums.

It sounds like you had software (perhaps it came with the camera) on XP that made those folders for you. Did you install any software related to your camera on your W7 computer?

I just use Windows (file) Explorer to move files from a camera to a folder that I've made/named.

XP had an excellent camera wizard for uploading photos but the one in Win 7 is garbage. If I just have a few photos to upload to Win 7, I just pull the card from my camera, put in a card reader, then drag the photos from the folder on the card to a folder in Win 7. I rename the photos later if I want.

If I have a large number of photos to upload to Win 7, I make a folder to put the photos into, plug the card into the card reader, then use the free program Irfanview to rename the photos sequentially and save them into the folder I made. It works just as well as the wizard in XP ever did.
