    Unable to play media files on external harddisk


    Dear All,

    Greetings!

    I have recently installed Windows 7 x32 OS on my Lenovo Thinkpad L410. I have en external Toshiba drive on which I store my movie collection as my laptop is company provided.

    After installation of Win 7 since yesterday, I am unable to play any media file from the same Hard disk I use to play from while working with Win xp.

    I don't know if accidentally I changed security setting few months back, but now I am getting permission error when I am trying to play the file or move it to some other folder/location.

    I am attaching the screenshot of the error for your reference.

    Kindly help. I am not tech savvy at all. If anything, facing this issue for last hour has raised by BP!

    Use the take ownership shortcut to take ownership of the files:

    Take Ownership - Allow or Prevent Users and Groups To

Unable to play some WMA files

I have got windows 7 with the default WMP12 and i cannot play some WMA files that i ripped with a previous version of WMP. It says that they do not have any license restrictions or anything, just wont play them and can't tell track length etc (i presume cant read the tags). Any ideas what's wrong??...
I just defragmented both c: and d: drives. D: is where I keep all my media. After defragmentation, both itunes and mediamonkey are completely unable to play audio files, and VLC can play video but there is no sound. Internet streaming plays as normal. Have I just destroyed my entire media...
