WMP 12 only plays some MP3s

I recently installed an audio codec pack and it seem to have messed with WMP ability to read mp3 files. It will play some mp3 files and for some it will not. I went and got the same music from my friends computer, which the files were working on, and they didnt work on mine so i know it isnt file corruption. I've uninstalled the codec pack , system restored, uninstalled/reinstalled WMP. So I am at a loss. Hope you geniuses can help.
Thanks for your time.

Try Winamp to play music. Plays all formats, and doesn't require external codecs.

Or, try PotPlayer for all formats audio and video.

Both of these provide a much better user experience than WMP.

Using third party software is a last resort if the problem cant be solved.

If I were you I'd download WMP 11 and the K-lite codecs and you'll see it all will be alright.

QuickTime plays my MP3s but only sometimes...
If I click on a web site forum where someone has posted a link to their song which is an MP3, QuickTime takes over and plays it instead of my default player Windows Media Player. But if I say, double click on an MP3 in a directory on my PC, Media Player opens and all is ok. In 'Default...

Some MP3s not being recognised in library
I have been rather frustrated by a seemingly random problem with Media Center and Media Player in Windows 7. Having recently 'committed' my MP3 collection to MP12 I was confused when some of the files were not 'seen' by the library, and quite often the missing files went unnoticed (literally) until...

CD Art in Explorer for MP3s
While browsing folders in Win 7 explorer, my mp3s sometimes have the cd art instead of the generic mp3 file logo. How can I turn that off? It's editing my mp3 tags, and I find it annoying! Thank you in advance.
