Windows 7: VLC playback blocky/pixelated?

Same here. I thought it was my card but reading this thread looks like it's general rather than an isolated problem. VLC worked fine with my old x1800GTO, I replaced it with a HD4650 and now if I watch a movie with VLC the output is pixelated unless I change the default playback driver to OpenGL.

Apparently it happens on Nvidia cards as well.

might find an answer/fix other than using the OpenGL output in this thread.

I loaded up a regular AVI 700MB rip and it looks blocky and slightly pixelated.

Loaded up in XP and it looked fine. Video drivers are up to date and all the settings are the same.

Anyone?
I just ticked "Use systems codecs if available, for WMV codecs" which is under Input & Codecs Settings and that fixed the pixelation problem. I really like VLC eventhough media player was playing my videos fine. I like VLC better because it can make the audio a lot louder than media player.
