VLC playback blocky/pixelated?

    Same here. I thought it was my card but reading this thread looks like it's general rather than an isolated problem. VLC worked fine with my old x1800GTO, I replaced it with a HD4650 and now if I watch a movie with VLC the output is pixelated unless I change the default playback driver to OpenGL.

    maybe its HD4000 series problem? i also have amd hd4870 card. i wonder if anyone has this problem with nvidia card.

    Apparently it happens on Nvidia cards as well.

    might find an answer/fix other than using the OpenGL output in this thread.

    I just ticked "Use systems codecs if available, for WMV codecs" which is under Input & Codecs Settings and that fixed the pixelation problem. I really like VLC eventhough media player was playing my videos fine. I like VLC better because it can make the audio a lot louder than media player.

    Well you should update to the newer version Mine runs fine no issues which one were you using version I mean currently I have 2.0.6
