VLC playback blocky/pixelated?

Anyone else notice this with the latest VLC version?

I loaded up a regular AVI 700MB rip and it looks blocky and slightly pixelated.

Loaded up in XP and it looked fine. Video drivers are up to date and all the settings are the same.

Anyone?

Yes, you are right. Plus, to compare I opened a file in WMP, and then when I launched VLC, my computer crashed.

I have noticed that same problem with vlc, when i open a movie its fine, then when i maximize to full screen it becomes grainy, and pixelated.

All of the so called fixes I have tried have no effect (removing output display, removing hardware acceleration).

I have all of the drivers up to date for my video card etc.

Windows Media Player seems to play the same files perfectly full screen, what gives?

I had the same problem.

I tried to apply the default settings and I tried to upgrade to latest version, but no luck. I think its the built in codecs that gets messed up, because none of the post-processing features seems to work/be tweaked when it happens.

Since then I have been using MPC-HC with the MpcVideoDec.ax codec, and lets just say I dont miss VLC.
MPC with this codec has much better IQ and less CPU load since MPC-HS supports UVD/PureVideo.

I just went ahead and reformatted today, switched back to vista.

No problems with video playback in vlc using Vista/32/ultimate...

WMP seemed to play .mkv and other files fine after I did a combined codec pack install on it in W 7, that sufficed until I reformatted but I noticed WMP doesn't handle a wealth of files very well.

Mplayer, and classic media player would work as viable alternatives to .vlc for anyone interested.

Hopefully the issue gets resolved, but I need a more stable os for my everyday functions, I just wanted to see how 7 beta would run most of them.

VLC was really the only thing I encountered problems with, and games.

Turn on Aero Theme. Seems VLC does not enable 3D mode properly or soemthing, with Aero turned off it was not using 3D mode for me.

Dell Inspiron 1520 here, notice the pixelated VLC playback too. Very smoth edges in WMP, as it should look. I'll try out KMplayer maybe and see if there's any difference.

I thought it was just me and I ended up going back to Vista drivers, but it didn't help a thing. Any other players you guys suggest that works fine? Though I guess it depends on hardware.

That slows my system down to a complete crawl. I really dont know what people see in VLC, WMP works much better.

it's simple. vlc uses very few resources and playbacks almost all the known video/audio formats without installing additional codecs.
