I want .jpg to show Thumbnails ONLY!

Okay I hope I have the right forum & here is my beef! I have Windows 7 Ultimate, & I do TWO things, program & work on websites. Now with websites, I process LOTS of images, I probably have 50,000 images or so.

Now as a programmer when I look at a file, I want to see a detail of the file, with it's extension, such as myfile.exe or myfile.dll. (modified date, size are good to see too)

BUT when I work with images, I want to see thumbnails, not details, not ocean water, the default image, or white paper background image. I know thumbnails take time to index, hence part of my problem. BUT you see when I work with a photo editor, I use Fireworks (but whether in Dreamweaver or Photoshop, I want to see the images so I can pick.

Lately, I am getting the green bar across the folder slowing down showing files, I am re-indexing now, which is taking time, but what is frustrating is that I can't get any work done, because I am constantly having to reboot to get Windows Explorer to work without the spinning circle & green bar progress.

Not sure what to do? Do I have too many images on the computer? If so, I never had this much of a problem with Vista?

Well, my re-index may be doing some good. Jury is out. My old pictures seem to be loading properly. Some of my websites I have designed are still showing the white paper icon, with the upper right corner tucked, but maybe when the index is done, it will fix. I guess I have a lot of reading up on indexing, file associations... to figure out.

I will make note of this, I did try Disk Cleanup. But will try your options. I just decided to try something that may work. I am doing a search of .jpg on my D: drive which has most images. I got a message to add more of D: to the index, which I am doing. Now I may be seeing more images populate with their 'true' image instead of the 'cheesy' windows picture or 'piece of crappy paper' icon. Thanks, I will update. :)

Well yes anything on another drive will need to be indexed for thumbnails to be saved instead being rebuilt every time you open the alternative drive,
Your showing 6 gigs of ram ?
What is the archive size plus on the C-drive ?

My C: drive is 120 Gig SSD and 75 Gigs at least is free. The D: drive is 500 Gigs and about 60% is free on it. I do try to keep most images on D: drive. I do have some photo or video editing installed on C: drive, because I thought it was faster to process video on the solid-state drive. It would be nice to just save instead of rebuilding. I don't know when this started, but I have been trying to do a bit of video (movie building) to put together a crowd funding venture.:)

When was the last time you cleaned out your case of the computer ?
Behind the intake fan is probably the dirtiest places you'll ever see,
    Cheers.

    Ps,
That's allot of files on D,
You might need to add another stick of ram,
What is the average size folder on D ?

I am going to give up for a while. I am just forced to reboot, because my explorer window justs sits, with that damn green bar going across the top of the folder. I have to be able to see my images later this evening to work on a website. I will think of something later. Thanks all.

I am going to run Adware, Anti-Spy & Anti-Malware. Don't know what else to do. I have been starting a new website, but it is more difficult because the images I need to choose from are just white pieces of paper with the upper right corner folded down.
