    Broken MP3

    Hey guys.
I'm working in radio station. And currently we still using winamp to play the mp3 files to broadcast it.

The problem is, sometimes the mp3 files are broken, it's sounds like the mp3 is mingled with other mp3. For example; x.mp3 that has 10 minutes duration, is playing. In minutes 4, it suddenly change to sounds that belongs to y.mp3. But in the winamp still playing x.mp3.

Anyone know what is the problem and how to avoid this?

I've never heard of anything like this.

Does this occur with any player? Or just with Winamp?

Does it occur every time you play x.mp3? Or just some of the time?

I could understand how you could intentionally make a file that behaved that way. But it would behave that way all the time.

Is the other song always y.mp3 or does it vary?

Is there any chance this is due to interference of some type that is leaking into your broadcast?

What is the connection between x.mp3 and y.mp3? How are they related? From the same CD? Downloaded from the same source? By the same artist?

Do you see anything unusual about these files if you look at them in an audio editor? I'm wondering if both the left and right channels have the problem.

Do you still have the problem if you convert the problem files to some other format, such as WAV?
