    Album Art corruption

    Hi all,

I've been having some trouble tagging MP3s. I've got a fairly extensive music collection which I keep properly tagged with Jaikoz and Musicbrainz. But just about everywhere the embedded album art comes up, it's looking corrupted or sometimes just plain black. This is happening in Explorer, WMP and WMC. Here's what I know:

    - The actual embedded artwork isn't corrupt - it displays fine in third party programs like Jaikoz.

    - It seems to be related to that bug in the beta builds where metadata got corrupted if the file header went over 16k. It does display fine if I extract the artwork, reduce the file size and replace the embedded artwork with the reduced one.

    - It's not an issue of corrupted art being left in a cache somewhere. I'm on a clean install, and I've gone to pains to delete the WMP art cache, all the folder.jpgs, and so on and so forth.

Something strange has started happening after leaving it on overnight with WMP running. Some - but not all - of the albums have got their correct artwork back. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to which ones have and which ones haven't.

Either way, I'm frankly at the end of my tether with this. I don't want to have to have all of my album covers as tiny, low-quality jpegs.

    Thanks in advance,
    Tom

    I've had the same problem.
It's seems Jaikoz is screwing up the tags. I know i've trusted Jaikoz too :)
But after I get mp3's into mp3tag, select them all, do a "tag cut" and then do a "tag paste" it fixes them. It also makes them smaller in size if they have large gaps from large artworks that had been deleted from them.
You'd have to wipe wmp's library database AND the artwork cache for the re-scan to be sucessful.
    So my workflow now is:
    mp3gain - remove gain info
jaikoz - sort every detail out
    mp3tag - fix jaikoz's stuff up's
mp3gain - apply album gain to all
wmp - scan without volume levelling

Too many steps if you ask me but it seems to work well.
    Cheers
