    Windows Photo Viewer decreases bit depth, adds dither


    I'm not quite sure if this is a video card thing, but it's the best place I could find. I'm having this odd issue on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit on my desktop. Any images (JPG, ARW) viewed with it appear downsampled to a lower bit depth, however viewing them in Adobe Bridge or Photoshop is just fine. I have installed Microsoft's RAW codecs, but I doubt those are causing any problems. The same images are just fine when viewed with Windows Photo Viewer on my laptop, which is also running Windows 7 Ultimate, but 32-bit. My monitor bit depth is set correctly.

    Okay, someone suggested this and it ended up working for me. Here's the link in case anyone else has this issue.

Hi!!!! is there anyone out there that can assit me? my win 7 photo viewer does the weirdest thing!! when i view my photos and rotate them and close the viewer, they disappear from my folder where they were originally stored in. i've checked my deleted items. no luck. searched whole pc for edited...

I'm on Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit operating system and I was wondering if there is anyway I can install Vista's Windows Photo Viewer. The previous one was awesome I could adjust the brightness,contrast and even crop pictures straight from the viewer. Please help :(
