This has been bugging me too, so I went to the organize-manage libraries, and removed all the folders being watched, closed WMP, then opened it and all signs of the sample media that I had already deleted were gone. So I then added the folders to watch backto the media libraries and let it update. No more sample media. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number compaq sr5410f case OS Windows 7 Pro 64 SP1 CPU AMD X2 4450E @ 2.3 ghz Motherboard Biostar MCP6P M2+ Memory 4.0 g Graphics Card Nvidia GeForce 9600 GT , 512mb Sound Card onboard Monitor(s) Displays auria eq2367 Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 Keyboard logitech wave cordless Mouse logitech LX8 cordless laser mouse PSU 250 watts Case compaq Cooling couple fans Hard Drives 1 tb Hitachi HDT721010SLA scsi, 500 gb external Internet Speed comcast hi speed 19 dn 8 up Other Info Laptop specs: HP g7-1365dx /

But as with many of MS's install packages, when you re-install, everything is re-installed (all "dependencies").
Why you are getting so upset with me is beyond me. i'm getting rather upset at the moment.
i did re-install and i did configure the folders to watch.
nothing helped.
and still... even though i told wmp to watch e:\musik - none of the music in there finds its way to my library... this is after refreshing the view and after the re-install, ofc.

"%Userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Media Player" Good job! Glad you found resolution. I've simply deleted the media from Music without issue every time. Wish I could explain why it doesn't work for you. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell Inspiron 1520 (Laptop)/ Home (Desktop) OS Windows 7 x64 / Same CPU Intel Core 2 Duo T7250 / Intel Core i7 930 Motherboard Intel 945 / Asus P6X58D-E Memory 4GB / 6GB Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS / ASUS 1GB Sound Card Whatever Dell gave me :-( / Onboard Monitor(s) Displays 15.4" LCD / Crappy CRT Mouse Microsoft Presenter (Bluetooth) PSU N/A / OCZ Fatal1ty 550W Modular Case N/A / Antec 900 Cooling Air Hard Drives Seagate 500GB SATA; 7200 RPM / Seagate 1TB SATA; 7200 RPM Deleting sample files from Windows Media Player problems?
