jpg files open as a black screen on my pc in windows 7?

Hi folks just joined and very new to this site and hopefully be able to get some help and perhaps help other's?
Anyway the problem seems to be when I open any of my jpg picture files on my pc the first on always opens, however when I try to view another, just a black screen with no error messages?, this is a pretty new issue and never happened to me before.
The jpg files are just pictures uploaded to my home pc taken on my Samsung s4 phone and have been taking them with this phone for a long time and uploading to pc for a long time and ever had this before?

my o/s is windows 7 home premium 64 bit
    amd a6-7400k cpu
    Asrock FM2A78 Pro4+ Socket FM2+ board
    8gb Kingston fury x ddr3 memory
graphics is radeon r5 inbuilt to the cpu one of these new ones
system is a home build basic for my needs and have built many over the years with confidence, and have not made any changes to the system of late that I can think of?

What is the file association for .jpg. Look here: Control Panel\Programs\Default Programs\Set Associations

This may not be a fix but an easy solution - get another photo viewer. The best one I know is this one. Then associate .jpg, .jpeg, .png and .bmp to it.

    fast stone image viewer?
yeah I had thought about just using another picture viewer as tbh it really makes no odds what program is used to view my pictures as long as they can be viewed at the end of the day, however it was just really annoying me, and as my system runs flawlessly otherwise, was maybe a little concerned that there was maybe something wrong somewhere, however I will probably just download the one you have suggested and do as you say as it will certainly solve the immediate problem, and thanks for taking the time to give some feedback it is appreciated as any help is.

    thanks Grant

    Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
Any issues with your third party viewer should be asked on their help site,
I use photo viewer it works fine and open pretty quick we are talking about just a viewer :/

If your needing a editor then there are allot of options Chasy's draw is darn quick too and has a separate viewer and editor
    Cheers.
