What does "Optimize this folder for" do?

Does it speed or slow anything down, or have any other effect worth noting or should I set everything to general Items?

Basically, it just changes how the data within the folder is displayed as details. If it is set to Music, it will show data that is pertinent to music such as title, artist, etc.
