Make a short to an audio stream and load a playerIn Win XP

In Win XP making a shortcut was different than the tips I've seem for Win 7

I don't see how to use the dialog box to load both the web page for the stream and my player.



What I see in XP is:

So what has to be done to get that sort of a string in the Win7 shortcut where multiple things have to execute?

It's a batch file task, yes.

But why could the old shortcut procedure be so different or impossible
to simply state to Win7? Without a 'wizard' the same form should exist someplace.

As to batch files, I vaguely remember how to code such a thing but forgot much of it
from -- when? -- 1985.

If admins can fix my spelling error in the subject that would be helpful. No way for me
to go in and fix it. "Shortcut" instead of 'short'

Try this, open Notepad and save the following as "Save as type: all files" and with .bat extension (I guess you are familiar with it)

Yes, classical music should play and the player window should be open.

I'll try the batch file. The goal is simply to get a button/shortcut down in the tray to start the
music stream. In that way, web navigation should be possible as it is with a simple
shortcut I moved from my XP machine to Win7. I never remade that .lnk (shortcut extension) file.

For those following this, I guess it's possible to make a .lnk file in XP and simply run
it in Win7. It had not occurred to me to approach it this way. I may try both.

Will report back. That may take a day or so when I sit down to do it.

No progress yet and no possibility of making a screenshot because .lnk is not on your list.
This is real troubling.

If you want to see what I'm talking about, select any shortcut you have and ask for Properties.
That Properties box I have made from scratch and saved. It cannot simply be written over and saved again.

Ok, for that. I also looked in one of my XP manuals and nothing in there on creating the .lnk
from scratch. Last ditch is I found an old mail to the audio engineer at the radio stations
who helped with the original and asked him to explain it again.

I'm pursuing this .lnk method since once the thing is opened you can select an icon as well.
This can be seen in the Properties box-- it's just not editable.

Which list? You can take a screenshot and attach as jpg if you are trying to say that.

You can save the .bat file to, example, in your documents folder and right click on it and select "Send to-Desktop(create shortcut)". Then on desktop right click and properties. Now, you can change icon to whatever you want.

You can further configure the bat file as a Quick Launch item - Quick Launch - Enable or Disable.
