Transferring photos(jpg) to usb - security restriction? Or sharing?

    Hi all,
copied over photos to my work laptop from my iPhone. I am now attempting to transfer over to a usb so can get the photos too. (Essentially want to Place on my own pc) - idiotically I did this on my laptop to save time but now think this was a wrong move given the security we have on it.

I have admin access (elevation tool) which has allowed me to change ownership to "everyone" etc. also attmepted sharing to everyone. (So locally all pictures no longer have a little padlock on them)

however on transfer all pics come up as .xml and are essentially corrupt when viewing on a different pc. the moment I transfer the icon reappears on files on the usb and cannot be viewed the moment the files are on a different pc (note when the files are usb on the work laptop the little lock icon on the file, not the folders, reappear).
Clearly there is some security I have not disabled for me allowed to copy... Or something just really obvious that I have not done.

Cheers in advance for the help.

    Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
    Weird fun going on :)

I take it you deleted the images off the phone ?
I suppose you can try to change the file type to .img that is what they are originally :/

Correct, deleted photos as I needed space.

Cannot rename the extension - still gives no image to be viewed etc message.

    Hi,
You might need to ask the i.t. department in the company about this it's way out of my pay scale,
Just google .xml to .img lol stack overflow stuff made my head hurt

    Hope the images weren't important.
Look into free icloud sync might give you another option to regain images after deletion ?
Or similar like Onedrive app ?

photos are actually pretty important - was of the family holiday we just had amongst other things.

Anyone else know of a work around? Surely someone has had this same issue?

    Hi,
Besides your I.T. department not really
Just make sure you tried the file type .IMG and not just .jpg or .jpeg as your question states because iphone's do not produce windows formats.
If there were videos they would be .MOV

What windows formats are you talking about?

.IMG files are not for photos,

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IMG_(file_format)

My iPhone uses .JPG for photos.
