I know its still Nero but Nero 9 Lite is free and only includes burning capabilities so you don't get all the bloat. It seems pretty good if all you want is to burn and prefer the familiar Nero look over the mentioned choices

I don't know about Nero 9, but Nero 8 works just fine with Win7. During install uncheck everything but Nero Express Essentials SE, don't install "Smartstart" audio/video codecs, or anything else.

    i want to be able to burn AVI's into DVD's . . .
The one I use is the Open Source (Free ) DVD FlicK, which provides a menu based system and uses Imageburn to actually perform the burning

    Download DVD Flick from SourceForge.net

    +1 for DVD Flick :)
I recently installed it and it works well, even allowing menu creation etc.

Just wanted to thank those that posted alternative programs to Nero

Some may get their panties in a wad for bumping a old thread , but Just wanted to thank those that had posted alternative programs to Nero.

(Migrated to Win7 - in process of finding programs/ alternates I've used over the years. My main problem is remembering what software was on what computer/ and or where the install/key codes were saved to, on various external hard drives, cd's etc.)
