    No need to apologize Jerry, you didn't write the code.

    MS explanation is that w7 has a picture viewer and most people don't have animated pics.

    Have you looked at this Windows 7 Gif Viewer Works perfectly it works as a viewer but not in explorer.

    YEs, I've looked at most of them. Like the OP I was hoping someone would come up with a way to make them animate in the w7 pic viewer.

    It is also stated above that you need to run the file (rundll32.exe) @ c:/windows/gif in compatibility mode for windows vista or xp. I hope this helps for you. I had the same error.
