Windows cant open ANY .png files

Hi There,

I'm struggling with weird problem. Windows cant show any png files. Thumbnails, png preview, even calculator get freak. Ui elements form excel are missing (my guess is they are png files).

It happened after I cleaned my temp folder and I have deleted some files like VC_RED.MSI, eula.1028.txt, install.res.1036.dll etc ... I have moved most of those files back from the trash and I have instaled again VC_RED.MSI but it didn't help.

I cant find anybody with simillar problem and I totally don't know how to deal with this ... Can anybody healp please?

Hi and welcome,

Have you tried a system restore to a restore point before the problem occurred?

This is the type of issue where System Restore or a backup image really comes in handy.

You could try a System File Check (SFC /scannow)

See this tutorial.

I just did it, it's telling me that all is good but it did not fix the problem.
