Suggested software for uploading photos from a camera

Do you have a suggestion for a software program (free if possible) that will perform uploading of photos from a camera? Its for my wife who is not very sharp on computer program details. The software needs to capable of creating a subfolder beneath a main folder such as "my pictures". It should also be able to select photos for the folder or alternatively select all. The simpler, the better. Thank you in advance.

Bill mate just what is the camera? I am assuming it is a digital one and connecting with a USB cable should be enough to view the pictures on the camera.
When you plug the camera in go to Start > Computer and the camera should listed just like anything else using the USB ports.
To open it if your machine doesn't prompt you to open and view the files - right clcik on it and do just thta.

Now the pics can be stored by selecting and copying them > going to Start > Pictures > make a new folder if you want and just paste them to that folder.

After that if you want to get to the pics then Start > Pictures > new folder or whatever name you give to the folder and view - or copy / paste to another stick if you are going to take them for printing in one of those shops that do that.

Probably more than you'll need for basic storage, but Adobe Bridge is available to all for Free, It can be set-up to manipulate the photo's as you upload then from the camera, adding them to a specific folder, and naming the file to a more human format than the usual Camera files

It?s True: Adobe Bridge CC Is Completely Free for Everyone, for Life! | ProDesignTools

Well if it is mainly for altering the pics - I thought you only wanted to save them and clear the camera then Paint.NET is good too and free Paint.NET - Free Software for Digital Photo Editing

To ICIT2LOL: I tried your procedure and it works great. I think my wife will find it easy to use and to learn. Thank you very much. I went to paint.net and it only sells paint and supplies.

BARMAN58; I think the software you suggested is too complicated for my wife to use. Thanks for your response.

Bill did you find the download for the Paint.NET??I might have given you the wrong link so see this one Paint.NET - Free Software for Digital Photo Editing it isn't my forte but you certainly can do some amazing things with the program.

Edit I meant to add if you pull a picture up on screen if you right click it you can open it with the Windows Paint it can do a few things like resize and stuff but the .NET stuff is better. Just one thing is if you use the Windows feature I would make a copy first in case what you do with the picture is no good then it is just a matter of deleting it and you still have the original.
