Image viewer session restoration issue (In need of new image software)

A moment ago I was looking through abour 25 different images on my computer, comparing and examining, when windows shut down for an update. I lost the image sessions and as far as I know there is no way to reopen recently closed images in image viewer.

Is there any method I can use to reopen previously viewed images? Is there just something obvious that I am missing? I would rather not go through my whole computer to open up all the individual images again.

If there is no way to do this on image viewer, then a reccomendation for an image viewing software which does have this function would be much appreciated. So that this will not happen again.
