Absolutely No Videos Will Play What's shakin people,
I recently upgraded to 7 about a month ago. Things were going great until every time I opened any sort of video file, be it AVI, WMA, including streaming video from youtube, xbox.com, anything, the program being used (Firefox, WMP, WinAmp) would either hang or crash. The most frequent error response was "AppCrashB1," or something along the lines of that. I made sure to update my nvidia drivers, update firefox, run compatibility checks, and new codecs. Nothing works. Whenever I restart/turn on my computer, videos will work several times, and fairly well. However, after about 15-30 minutes, the same jazz starts happening. I have absolutely no idea where to go from here. Thanks. | My System Specs |

Hi.
Install Shark's Codec pack and update your Adobe Flash.
From an elevated command prompt, run:

I tried to run sfc /scannow and it said I need to be an administrator running a console session to access sfc, and to be honest, I'm green at this... | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP HDX 18T OS Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit CPU Intel Core 2 Duo T9550 2.66 GHz/2.67 GHz Memory 4 GB DDR3 Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce 130M 1 GB GDDR3 Monitor(s) Displays 18" LED Laptop Display Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Hard Drives 2X250 GB SATA |

Elevated means to run it as administrator. You can right click on the shortcut then choose run as admin.

Thanks for you help, but unfortunately, the situation is staying the same. The scan found nothing and the codecs installed fine. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP HDX 18T OS Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit CPU Intel Core 2 Duo T9550 2.66 GHz/2.67 GHz Memory 4 GB DDR3 Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce 130M 1 GB GDDR3 Monitor(s) Displays 18" LED Laptop Display Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Hard Drives 2X250 GB SATA |

Rar or zip them, then attach to a post. This could help figure things out.
Also, very helpful: Type system information in the start menu search box. Hit enter. On the screen that pops up, use ctrl+s. Rar or zip the saved file and also attach that to a post. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number self built OS 7600.20510 x86 CPU P4 550 3.4 GHz HT running at 3.5 GHz Motherboard MSI PM8M3-V (MS-7211 v1.x) Micro-ATX mainboard Memory OCZ 2 GB(2x1GB) DDR400mHz running @ 414 mHz Graphics Card HIS Radeon HD 3850 IceQ 3 Turbo HDMI Dual DL-DVI AGP Sound Card MOTU Traveler firewire studio interface 192 kHz 24 bit Monitor(s) Displays 22" widescreen Acer X223W LCD, 17" Compaq P75 CRT Screen Resolution 1680x1050 and 1280x1024 Keyboard Logitch Classical Keyboard 200 Mouse Logitech Mediaplay cordless PSU 350W generic Case Cybertronpc, it glows blue Cooling stock cpu fan, Ice-Q 3 gpu and system, many case fans Hard Drives SATA I x2 WD, 400 GB and 120 GB, SATA 2 WD Caviar Black 1 TB Internet Speed 1792/448 kbits/sec Other Info SATA II PCI fake RAID adapter, 1 GB Readyboost, original ATI Remote Wonder (even works with WMC perfectly), Logitech Rumblepad 2 game controller x2 |

The Minidump was empty, as expected. Here is the system information. When on the System Drivers tab, I noticed some "Critical" ones under the Error Control section. I don't know if they are specifically relevant or not. Thanks alot for your help. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP HDX 18T OS Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit CPU Intel Core 2 Duo T9550 2.66 GHz/2.67 GHz Memory 4 GB DDR3 Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce 130M 1 GB GDDR3 Monitor(s) Displays 18" LED Laptop Display Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Hard Drives 2X250 GB SATA |

Alright. Follow this and hopefully it will be fixed.
Type regedit in the start menu search box.
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
and delete:
SynTPEnh
Zune Launcher
SmartMenu
SysTrayApp
Then go to start menu | all programs | startup
Inside there, delete:
Google Update
Back to start menu search box, type services.msc then hit enter. Disable:
Cyberlink RichVideo Service
Viewpoint Manager Service (You could also delete the entire folder for this in program files.)
Yahoo! Updater
Go to device manager and right click on sptd. Disable it.
When done, reboot computer and test. Let me know how it goes. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number self built OS 7600.20510 x86 CPU P4 550 3.4 GHz HT running at 3.5 GHz Motherboard MSI PM8M3-V (MS-7211 v1.x) Micro-ATX mainboard Memory OCZ 2 GB(2x1GB) DDR400mHz running @ 414 mHz Graphics Card HIS Radeon HD 3850 IceQ 3 Turbo HDMI Dual DL-DVI AGP Sound Card MOTU Traveler firewire studio interface 192 kHz 24 bit Monitor(s) Displays 22" widescreen Acer X223W LCD, 17" Compaq P75 CRT Screen Resolution 1680x1050 and 1280x1024 Keyboard Logitch Classical Keyboard 200 Mouse Logitech Mediaplay cordless PSU 350W generic Case Cybertronpc, it glows blue Cooling stock cpu fan, Ice-Q 3 gpu and system, many case fans Hard Drives SATA I x2 WD, 400 GB and 120 GB, SATA 2 WD Caviar Black 1 TB Internet Speed 1792/448 kbits/sec Other Info SATA II PCI fake RAID adapter, 1 GB Readyboost, original ATI Remote Wonder (even works with WMC perfectly), Logitech Rumblepad 2 game controller x2 |

Well, I did everything you said last night and so far, it's all running smoothly. The only draw back was my touch pad stopped being able to scroll, but all I did was reinstall the Synaptics driver. It looks like this was definitely the correct answer. Thanks alot for all your help. Without it, I may have thrown my laptop at a wall. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP HDX 18T OS Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit CPU Intel Core 2 Duo T9550 2.66 GHz/2.67 GHz Memory 4 GB DDR3 Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce 130M 1 GB GDDR3 Monitor(s) Displays 18" LED Laptop Display Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Hard Drives 2X250 GB SATA |
