Windows Media Player very slow startup

    Hi,

Since I installed Windows 7, media player takes a long time to start up. Something about 10 seconds. I have a big library but it still doesn't justify this much the slow startup. Any ideas?

    Best,

Had the exact same problem while I was using my old Maxtor HDD. And having a big library actually does justify slow startup time, because everytime you start WMP it checks the media library contents for new files. This can also be affected by other programs you may be running at the time of starting WMP.

I've got a circa 1Tb library. WMC starts in about 2-3 seconds. I guess start up will also be affected by memory and CPU capacity to a greater degree than the size of the library.

Of course, and I will add if I may, the speed of the HDD itself. 10 seconds is nothing compared to the amount of time it took WMP to start while I was using my old HDD
