    Pausing the photo screensaver?

I'm getting my mum's new 64-bit Windows 7 HP Pavillion all set up for her, and I have hit a minor snag. When the photo screensaver is running, you can use the arrow keys on the keyboard to move forward and backward through the pictures, but it won't pause. In XP, you could always push the down arrow to pause the screensaver in order to look at a picture longer, but that only ends the screensaver in 7. I've also noticed the same problem in Vista. Is there some way I can pause the photo screensaver and not "wake up" the computer, or did Mr. Gates decide to discontinue the feature after XP?

    Thanks, folks! :)

Sorry Nexton, your feature must have been discontinued, unless you can find an option in the settings.

I was afraid of that. There's no option in the settings, of course. I think I'll try Google's photo screensaver before I give up all hope, though. Thanks for your help anyway, Jonathan!

You should also know that the "My Pictures Slideshow" screensaver from XP will work in 7. Copy the file "ssmypics.scr" into your Win7 screensaver folder and you can use it again!

CURaven, that's brilliant! I don't know why I didn't think of that before. I will test it ASAP and let you know the results.

CURaven, it worked perfectly! Thank you very much! Now the only problem I have is that I can't find any scales to click on to add to your rep :)

    pausing screenpaver

I know this reply comes late, but I just got a computer with Windows 7 Professional and installed Screenpaver 4.2. I can pause Screenpaver without closing it by simply hitting the "p" key. The forward or back arrow resumes the slide show. Hope this helps.

Hi everyone, I know my comment here comes late to this thread which I just now came across. I have read all the comments here in regards to the same issues I was having, and they are all correct about the ssmypics.scr working great in Windows 7. I just thought that some of you might appreciate one more addition to this thread, which in this case is a place on the Microsoft.com website where you can safely download that SCR file if you don't already have it. It appears at the end of this comment and opens a Microsoft forum, and the very first reply near the very top of the page is from a forum moderator named Ronnie Vernon, and embedded within his reply is a download link for SSMYPICS.SCR. Best regards, Christian
