All icons change to itunes icons after dwnlding itunes

I just got a new HP Pavillion dv4 and want to transfer my music from my old computer to my new computer.
I downloaded iTunes and all of the icons on my desktop changed to iTunes icons! So I uninstalled iTunes and the icons changed back. I did this 3 times and everytime it was the same.
I really want iTunes on my computer...
Any advice?
Thanks!

right click on your music files, go to properties, in the general tab there is a section that says "opens with" click change and select windows media player or whatever other media player you want to automatically play your music files.

hope that helps!

That's not really what I meant.... let me share again...

I just got a new computer. I haven't transfered any of my music files to my new computer yet.
I want to download itunes. Everytime that I download itunes, all of my icons on my desktop and on the my taskbar change to itunes icons.
So I uninstall itunes and then all of my icons change back to their original icon. How can i download itunes so that all of my icons dont change?

Thanks!
