    Speakers, 5.1 or 2.1 -- Suggestions Please

I'm looking to replace my current PC speakers, as they starting to have issues. The sub cuts out from time to time and its annoying.

ATM, I have a set of LOGITECH 530's (Old version of the 540s basically same i tihink) 5.1 PC Speakers that are about 5 years old.

Im also running a X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Card.

Im having trouble finding a good 5.1 set (other than the newer version of what I have) , and was thinking possibly some higher end 2.1 speakers.

    Couple im looking into are:

Amazon.com: Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 THX Certified Computer Speaker System (Black): Electronics

    Amazon.com: Logitech Z-2300 THX-Certified 200-Watt 2.1 Speaker System (Silver): Electronics

Also, the klipsh seem to have another set, the ones I have linked and:
Amazon.com: Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 - 2.1-channel PC multimedia speaker system - black: Electronics
huge jump in price, and only difference i see are the more exp. ones aren't THX certified.

At any count, Im not lookinn to spend alot of cash, and curious if anyone knows about these sets.

Also, Ive been reading that either "supposedly" sound so good that the 5.1 wouldn't be missed.
I'm not sure because I do like my 5.1 for my Blurays, even though they are cheap speakers.

My local Best buy doesnt have either on display to listen to either

I mostly: Listen to music, Movies, Gaming

    Any advice appreciated.

    Stick to 5.1!
No 2.1 configuration can replace the sound quality of 5.1 speakers. It all depends on the acoustics and the design of your room, how much space you have and the speaker's positioning, but if you have the cash and space, stick to the goodies you're used to.

The room my PC is in is 10x10 approx ..

Was hoping to keep it at $150 or less
Which is why i was thinking better quality THX certified 2.1, might make a difference.

But i do tend to think it might possibly be better just to go with cheaper 5.1s

the creative 6100 look like they might be good
