    Windows DVD Maker unspecified error

Hi. I searched hi and and low and I don't see this problem.
New PC, Windows 7 - just tried Windows DVD Maker.
    It worketh NOT.

I add videos, all .wmv to start, and choose options, and say burn - it goes for about 1 to 2 % and quits. Says an error occured when burrning the DVD.
It never got to actually even spinning the DVD, it was just converting stuff.

    Seems a simple thing.
    How can it not work?

    Thanks.

There are a lot of things that could go wrong, but if the blank DVD never actually started spinning, then I assume it's a problem with the source video files. What's more confusing is that they're WMV, a native Microsoft compression format.
Have you used menus or anything that might crash the process?
Did you try burning any other kind of media with it? If not, I certainly suggest you try it out.

Thanks. The drive works fine with straight data copying to CD or DVD.
Making a Video DVD seems to be the problem.

I also tried downloading DVDFlick - it worked on my Vista laptop - and it seemed to work on my Windows 7 machine - but the resulting DVD won't play on anything. I posted a problem on their forum.

I tried reducing the menu thing - no difference.
On my laptop with Vista, DVD Maker seems to get further - it starts spinning the DVD, but then gives up. It thus ruins the DVD.

There has to be a better way to do this.
I may actually have to buy a non - Microsoft product. Heavens.
    Thanks for the thoughts.
No other reported problems like this, as far as I can see.

I am burning to DVD some footage filmed at my wedding
All of the files are in avi format
At first I had no audio at all when the DVD project was finished
Downloaded Xvid codec, and now, I have audio on the main title screen
Problem remains that the remainder of the project is silent.
Could this be a codec problem or something more severe?
    Any help appreciated

It sounds like an audio codec issue. Do you know what the audio format is?
If not, you can download a very handy tool MediaInfo which provides all the details for both video and audio so you'd know exacly what you're working with.
