Yes, I have gone to the Media Player Classic now as well.

If there were a way I could delete WMP12 completely off my computer I would, as sometimes it still wants to be the oh so grand player and attempt to run videos that it of course can not.

I wish the Shark codex worked on the Classic Media Player... it actually does run about 80% of the videos on windows 7, a great increase from the standard set that normally run. Fortunately Klite has updated their codex base and it now gives me about 95% on media player. But still a few will not run on Classic, but will on WMP.

Let's just keep hoping someone is ingenious enough to get WMP 10 or 11 to run on windows 7 and that will solve the visual and ability to manipuate the screen/video the way a user wants it to actually be. Every time a video happens to start up on WMP12, I just cringe, as I know it will either give the can not play error, or it will play it, but not be able to manipulate the color or brightness as it should.

You do not need to wish for it, you just need to use a player that is properly configured to use the codecs installed on your system. K-crap distributes the player with their release using the players internal codecs in the hopes that since their release couldnt play the files on your system, maybe the player can do what they couldnt acheive.

On my Tools page (on my website), I release up-to-date players pre-configured for use with my releases.
(pre-configured = turning off all internal codecs in the player)

Why won't Windows Media Player 12 open to full screen by default?

Is there any way (perferably without the use of third party software) to force windows media player to 1.) open maximized, regardless of whether I open up ANY mp3 file or movie file?

THAT'S ALL I WANT from Windows Media Player. I don't know WHY this is impossible to do. In Vista it was SIMPLE (scary thought I know). All I had to do was maximize the Player window ONCE and when I exited out of it, the system/OS REMEMBERED that it was in maximized mode and regardless of what song I choose it opened up Windows Media Player in Maximized mode.

Please note that I'm NOT talking about Full Screen. I want it MAXIMIZED. I'm SICK AND TIRED of that stupid small box opening up whenever I want to listen to music.

I'm gonna state my problem again just to be CLEAR....

Windows Media Player 12 in Windows 7 DOES NOT remember the window state of the "now playing" view. As a result, even if you maximize the window, close it, and later open some video OR music file from Windows Explorer, the WMP window is NEVER maximized. Instead it keeps insisting on opening a small little box that I cannot see or enjoy my music on. So I'm FORCED to keep pressing the maximize button in the top right of the window EVERY SINGLE TIME. And it's annoying. I don't want to have to use iTunes to listen to my music collection.

I don't understand why this issue is not fixed. I like my Media Player window to always start maximized, and judging by people's response to WMP12, I'm not the only one.
I'm not the biggest fan of WMP12 either, but this seems like a silly thing to complain about.....is the one click to maximize really such an arduous chore?
It might be silly to you but it is important to ME.

Not to mention as you're implying it's such a SMALL thing. All the previous versions of windows media player had it. Why is it all of sudden impossible for me to simplly open up a song in WMP and for the player to be in maximized mode?

It did it in Vista. It will NOT do it in Windows 7.

Can anyone help me instead of berating me...

Mine does, once clicked to maximise every time I open it, it opens in max.

And does it open in max when you click on any and all music files that would normally play in Windows Media Player?

You clearly didn't ready my posts closely. It's not about opening the program. It's about opening the files that it's compatible with.

I should NOT have to open up a song or a video, wait for WMP To launch, and THEN click on maximize every single time. What if I close out of WMP every so often to do other tasks that I don't want it slowing the computer down with....

I will have to agree with the author on this one. Anytime I open Windows Media Player, my hard drive light goes nuts for hours on end, indexing files. When it's done with that, it indexes some more. Later one, just for fun, it indexes again. It's aggravating. When I click on a music file or video to play it, it sometimes takes up to 5 seconds before it starts because of all the indexing going on, hogging up hard drive usage and system resources. I no longer will use it because of this nonsense. I strictly use VLC now, and it's wicked!

I think I found something of a workaround but maybe its not entirely what you want. If you open Windows Media Player (without opening a file) and switch to the Now Playing view, hold the ctrl button while resizing the window. Then exit and open a file. On my computer it will pop up at the same size I had just resized it to. Let me know how this works for you :)
