DNG
Is there a way to see DNG files as thumbnails like you can with Jpegs?
Hi xXSevenXx.
IrfanView (IrfanView - Official Homepage - one of the most popular viewers worldwide) allows you to view DNG files.:)
Alternatively ArcSoft RAW Thumbnail Viewer is a free plug-in for Windows that allows you to preview your RAW photos when browsing through your files.
In the “Thumbnails” view of Windows Explorer, RAW files appear as generic icons. With ArcSoft RAW Thumbnail Viewer, you can see a thumbnail version of your picture. (ArcSoft RAW Thumbnail Viewer)
Hope this helps.:)
No problems.:)
Let us know how it turns out please. There may be someone else looking for the same thing.
.
This is better than expected, as the DNG file itself becomes a thumbnail, if you know what I mean.
I D/L it from ArcSoft RAW Thumbnail Viewer Download - Softpedia

Microsoft has a main page for RAW codecs at Microsoft Professional Photography: Codecs
ArcSoft -Looks like it wasn't free after all or would have pop ups continuosly trying to get you to buy some of their products. Pity this could not have been mentioned on this page. I will use picasa until Microsoft or Adobe supply a free codec. Like they don't charge enough for their products as it is and then want you to buy essential add-ons! I don't think so!
Since I was nerved by this, too, I wrote a little DNG thumbnail/preview codec for Windows x64 myself.
In contrast to all the other ones it's REALLY free ;-)
