MP3tag to spreadsheet - select fields

Hi there
I'm fairly new to all this "Digital Music" stuff so excuse if this seems a trivial problem for a lot of users.

I've ripped my CD's and now I'm trying to create some sort of decent library system.

I'm using mp3tag v245a and it shows me the data I want to export to EXCEL (as a CSV file) - no problems with this

However when I run the export it copies ALL the headings not just the ones I want - and because some of the tags are missing the EXCEL import gets some data in the wrong columns.

All I want is just ALBUM, File Name (this is the ripped file name prefixed by a number), Path (I'm going to link this to a MySQL DB for streaming later on) Track title from the tag.

The windows normal Cut and Paste doesn't seem to work either

I'm sure loads of you must have used this program for getting data into a spreadsheet.

My general advice would be to look for a prog that is specifically designed as a catalog program as opposed to a tagging program. It might give you more control and accuracy. I have no idea what prog that might be as I am not in the flac world.

I have mp3s and use a prog called mp3utility. It reads everything in a directory and its subdirectories and saves it to a csv, which can then be imported to Excel.

You might end up with column headings you don't care about such as sample rate, running time, bitrate, channel mode, etc.

Frankly, I think if you rely on tags you are destined for a lot of hand editing and manicuring. The more tags you care about on a given selection, the more manicuring required.

All I care about is song title and artist--very very rarely anything else. My file naming convention is artist name space hyphen space song title, so everything I want is in the file name. Even then, it's a ongoing battle against errors of one kind or another.

Here is a screen cap of the output of mp3utility. There are 20 or 30 columns off screen to the right that I don't care about.
