video capture problem

My DV video capture stops at exactly 3 minutes and 51 seconds. The error message is "unknown recorder error".

This happens with various mini DV tapes and using either a JVC HR - DVS 3u or a Sony HDR - M15 AU deck. It's also happened on two different computers, a DIY (i7-940) running Windows 7-64 and Adobe Premier Pro CS4 as well as a Sony laptop (intel duo 2.80) running Windows 7-64 and premiere Pro CS three. I've used various firewire cables as well and the error consistently occurs at three minutes and 51 seconds of captured video.

I have reinstalled the firewire drivers and tried a legacy driver.

thanks again for any insight that you can shed on these issues. One more thing, the JVC deck worked fine where I was using another computer that was running windows XP. The Sony deck is new and I have no prior experience with it.
