No Thumbnails For Files Other than .mpg

i installed the new Shark Codes "Win7codecs 2.3.3 Final" and "x64 Components 2.3.7 Final" ... they did work so i uninstall them and installed the lates "k- lite mega pack" which is still installed

i have windows 7 64 bit. my computer seems to play all the video files but now i wont generate thumbnails for me videos like { .wmv, .avi, .flv, .asx, .asf } but there are no problems for the (.mpg and .mpeg files ) for all other files it just shows which player is associated the that file type. ... P.S. All Picture file show there thumbnail perfectly.

The thumbnails for wmv .flv, .asf .mov and avi files don't appear when in thumbnail view for explorer windows. .MPG files work.
The only Way To Get them to show was to using the "file open" from my media player and use that thumbnail view and the wmv and avi thumbnails appear as they should in that dialog. and the ones that previewed and thumbnail still show up when i open a folder from explorer. but the other still dont show the thumbnails.
as you can see from the screenshot i provided .mpg and .mpeg are the only ones that show up.
can any please help me on this ?

    Welcome!

It seems as if the videos are set to open in another player, like Media Player Classic. If you change those types to open with Windows Media Player, I believe the thumbnails will come back.

Default Programs - Associate a File Type or Protocol

    Hope this helps,

well i tryed to set windows media player and the default player for .avi and .wmv files but when i tryed to open them using wmp . an error pops up saying "Server Execution failed".. but the same files play fine in bsPlayer and media player classic. so i know its "windows media player with the error and not the video files.

and on top of that the thumbnails for them still dont genarate
Here is a view of my installed video codecs is that right ?
or are some missing or something ? i installed k-lite mega pack and k-lite 64 pack

OP - I can't for the life of me get FLVs to show thumbs in Explorer. I've tried so many "solutions" from the WWW that I just gave up.

    Ideas?

Shark 007's codec pack here Win7codecs will allow you to play any type of media file and will provide you with thumbnails for FLV's.

As for the OP, I'm not sure how the Shark007 codecs wouldn't work since they work for everyone else in playing pretty much any type of media file.

I use Windows 7 Codec Pack.

I have no problem playing any codecs with any media player. All of my thumbnails show for all media files.

I always untick the the following blocks in file and folder view:
    Always show icons never thumbnails
    Display file icon on thumbnail

    See attached.

Well I use Windows Media Player 12 with Shark codecs and its true that even though I can play .flv files. They won't usually generate thumbnails on WMP video library. Even if I view them in Windows Explorer, these .flv videos are always shown in icons not thumbnails.

When I play these .flv files, the video progress bar does not work and the play again button also does not work on these .flv files. I have to go back to library view to play them again.

Did you open the Shark codec program with admin rights, click "suggested settings", close, then re-open as regular user?
