    Windows media player to ipod

    Hi all

I am trying to download MP3 files to an ipod

Seems like MGTEK dopisp is an add-on to accomplish this task

Any experience with this program or other recommendations?

    Thanks

    Will

Nope, just iTunes, is the better way to go about it, just the fact they are made to be compatible.

I think that you can put your music/media that you are trying to put on your iPod into iTunes, so it could be worth it to just download the iTunes program, put your media into it, and put it onto your iPod.

Apple - iTunes - Download iTunes Now

    Thanks for the responses

I was hoping to avoid downloading iTunes - still trying to learn the interface with Windows Media Player and don't want to have to work with two separate programs

MGTEK dopisp evidently works as an add-on in the Media Player interface

iTunes is relatively easy to use. But I can understand not wanting to put in another program. It's good that it works with Media Player. Where did you get the add-on?

    Hi there

Assuming you want to get DRM free music on to your IPOD -- I'm not sure what you do in the case of music with DRM copy restrictions on it.

is the IPOD just "Drag 'n Drop" -- I've never used an IPOD but have other devices (Mobile Phones) which just look like an "external drive" to Windows -- so once you've got your music in Mp3 format either with tags or without you should be able to just cut and paste from Windows to your device.

There's loads of programs for creating MP3 files from WAV / FLAC / WMA etc etc all with tags if you need to.

(I don't use an Ipod so if you can't drag and drop mp3 files this way - then ignore the post - but IMO the device should work without having to use Itunes or whatever - most mobile phones that also act as a music player simply allow you to copy mp3 files on to the xd card or whatever in the phone).

iPods aren't Drag 'n' Drop devices, they can only be accessed by iTunes and other add-ons for media players.

They go by a library file, which is like a registry containing information about the music on the device, such as location, album art, name of the song, artist etc.

Thanks to all for the replies

Unfortunately I am new to the whole MP3 player scene

My wife has an ipod touch

My daughter and I have ipod shuffles

I also have a sansa clip

I don't have many music files

However, I am planning to build my collection with DRM-free files from Amazon or similar source

Itunes is pretty annoying - when we bought our new computer we lost a number of video files when we tried to synch to the new computer

I would prefer to avoid itunes if possible

MGTEK dopisp is available at the MGTEK website Sync your iPod with Windows Media Player

There are other similar programs but MGTEK seems to get the best reviews on CNET

My daughter keeps asking if we can download her songs - American Pie, Crazy Frog, Le Freak, Eye of the Tiger

    Thanks

    Will

I'd never use iTunes either because I hate how it manages your music collection.
