I just found this possible solution if you want to try. Remove Album Art completely from Media Player 12 :
1) You may click on View(WMP12),
2) Choose Columns.
3) Uncheck the Album Art box and you're done. Before performing this operation enable windows to show hidden files by:
1) open Computer,
2) click on Tools located on the top toolbar,
3) then Folder Options.
4) Then click on the View Tab, then look for the item that says Show hidden files, folders, and drives, and check this option.
Here is where the cache is located. Locate and delete.
